I'm the Administrator, and have two user accounts. Everything was fine for about a month. But, then I couldn't log in as the administrator any more. The message I get " The user profile service failed the login. User profile cannot be loaded". Any thoughts how I can correct this? I have followed your thread,

I am trying to add an administrator login onto my website in order for the people I am making the website for to login and update certain features independently. I know it is possible to do this, but I have no idea about how or where to start. Any help would be appreciated.

When I try to log on with the new user name and password. I am returned to the user log on box. If I log on as administrator, no problem. If I change the new user name to allow administrator status, no problem. I cannot log on with a user name that is not an administrator. Any suggestions?

On this particular issue, I thought Microsoft did not permit the built- in administrator to be locked out from remote access. As you say about power cycling above, for this to happen at all implies that something is broken. If this is the case, there may well be no approved way of getting back in.
